Ill health or an accident can happen to anyone, anytime. Just have a look at our claims guide to see the many people we’ve paid out to, and the many reasons they had to claim.

State benefits can be low in value, and over the years they’ve become increasingly hard to claim. It’s uncertain what they’ll be in future. In comparison, My Sick Pay is a way for you to stay in control of your financial situation and be certain about what you’d be paid each month if you had to claim.

You can buy My Sick Pay if:

  • You’re working more than 16 hours a week
  • You’re aged between 18-59
  • You’re employed or self-employed
  • You have a UK bank account
  • You’ve been a UK resident and registered with a UK GP for at least 3 years

You’ll need a Financial Adviser to be able to buy My Sick Pay. You can find one here www.unbiased.co.uk.

My Sick Pay also comes with free and unlimited GP consultations for your and your family. Click here to find out more.

And we don’t just help by paying your claim. Depending on your situation we may be able to help in other ways. For example, financial support if you’re diagnosed with a terminal illness, help getting better through counselling, physio or other support, or topping up your income for up to a year if you go back to work in a lower paid job.

Other important information

You can only buy My Sick Pay through a financial adviser. They’ll check it’s suitable, explain how it works, help you buy it and they’ll give you the full Terms and Conditions. Here’s some important information:

  • My Sick Pay isn’t unemployment or life insurance.
  • My Sick Pay pays you money each month. It doesn’t pay out a lump sum (unless you’re diagnosed with a terminal illness, see our T&Cs for further details).
  • You must answer our questions carefully. If you miss out something important it could mean we can’t pay your claim.
  • My Sick Pay doesn’t have a cash in value. If you cancel your insurance after 30 days you won’t get anything back.
  • What we pay you could affect any government means-tested benefits you receive.
